Hi! I'm Tara, birth and postpartum doula, placenta encapsulation specialist, childbirth educator and student herbalist.
My journey into birth work began while teaching preschool. At the time, getting and staying pregnant, was a struggle I was navigating and the parents at the preschool started suggesting I look into midwifery care. That perhaps they would be able to help me with some solutions that the doctors I had already seen couldn't. Sure enough, I started care with the incredible midwives at Madison Birth Center and successfully carried my first son to term, and delivered him surrounded by the most amazing support team I could have ever asked for. This was the moment I knew that supporting women in labor was exactly what I was supposed to be doing.
I am a teacher at heart. I believe every family deserves to feel informed and empowered to make the decisions that are best for them. I have been a birth doula since I trained with DONA international in 2014. I have since added Placenta Encapsulation, Childbirth Education, Perinatal Sexuality Training and Postpartum Doula Services to the list. I am currently studying to become a certified herbalist and aromatherapist and am excited to add these services and knowledge to what I have to offer.
I live in Sun Prairie with my three boys, our dog Maggie, and my wonderfully supportive partner, Taylor. When not doula-ing you can find me hiking, reading, and formulating products for my small batch home and body products business, Shade Tree Naturals.
