J. Dale Gardner
They/Them/Fae/Faer
J. Dale Gardner is a Black full-spectrum birth doula and aspiring midwife who has served many families in the greater Madison Wisconsin area. Dale has degrees in Gender & Women’s Studies and Health Promotion & Health Equity from UW-Madison, and is also certified as a lactation counselor.
Birth work is a calling for Dale – and has known since their first pregnancy that they were meant to work with pregnant people. They have personal experience with infertility, miscarriage, pregnancy, and birth as they grew their family with seven children and their long-time partner, Chris. They know firsthand that these vulnerable and life-changing experiences can be traumatic or empowering and that the kind of support that a family receives has a great impact.
Dale aims to ease families’ burdens, fight for their rights and needs, and empower them to fight for themselves. Dale has given back to this community via volunteer work for Pregnancy Options Wisconsin (P.O.W.E.R.S.), interning for Public Health-Madison/Dane County, and as a member of the board of directors for the Broom Street Theatre.
